Studio
EDA's intent was to make a small space appear more spacious without sacrificing practicalities of the everyday living. This was achieved by the use of full height custom made cabinetry and the used of under bed storage without overshadowing the balance and simplicity of each use. Each area served a dual purpose. The sliding glass door was used for privacy but also brought light into the space, the use of door panels were flipped up for the use of countertops. The contrasting use of materials allowed each element to stand by itself. The use of teak countertops, glass walls, bamboo flooring, mosaic tiled walls and white and dark millwork provided a spacious feel -
Design Office
EDA’s intent was to bring light to a rectangular office space. By creating an unfolding wall, parts of the wall were exposed to allow light to enter into dark work space. The intent was also to expose the use of everyday materials that are usually hidden, such as metal studs, cement board. Sandblasted plexi glass further exposed the rawness of the exposed materials and allowed light to enter the space. The use of custom made mobile furniture allow for different arrangements to be made in a limited area. -
Lobby Atrium
EDA’s intent for this office incubator for start up companies was to connect shared facilities over two floors, by creating a large glowing volume inside the atrium. The use of a glass enclosed space provides a meeting point where conferences are held. The use of an open glass and steel stair allowed for further enhancement of this atrium space. The use of frosted glass and stainless steel was predominantly used -
Cafe Bakery
EDA's concept of this Bakery was to create a fusion of foods where east meets west. The space is a reflection of the use of rougher textured materials used in contrast with softer materials. The glass box was used to show the baking on display while colored containers kept the secret ingredients. Concrete, teak and frosted glass was used.
